I just finished reading Larry Niven’s “Ringworld” and I really enjoyed it. It’s from the 1970’s and I really enjoy vintage sci-fi from all over the world. Another sci-fi, vintage title that I’ve read recently is Stanislaw Lem’s “Cyberiad,” which is basically a sci-fi comedy. I didn’t know that there was such as genre as sci-fi comedy until I read this book.
Next, I”m going to read a book about the Belle Epoque era in France; a type of historical book by Mary McAuliffe. The title is “Dawn of the Belle Epoque.” I read a few pages and it was very engaging and interesting. She really delves deep into the era and all of the famous political and artistic figures of this period.
After this, I am interested in going back to read another book by one my favorite mystery writer, Tana French, whom I discovered several years ago. She is an Irish writer and writes all of her novels in the context of Dublin and the surrounding Irish countryside. Her novels always have a social point in them and I really enjoy that aspect of her writing. I’ve read almost every novel that she has written and the latest one that I’ll be reading is “Faithful Place.”
